CSY Wednesdays: RADICAL

Leader Melanie Skillman invites you to come on
Wednesday nights at 6:00 p.m. as we study David Platt's RADICAL!  In Radical, David invites you to encounter what Jesus actually said about being his disciple, and then obey what you have heard. He challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated a God-centered gospel to fit our human-centered preferences. With passionate storytelling and convicting biblical analysis, Platt calls into question a host of comfortable notions that are common among Christ's followers today. Then he proposes a radical response: live the gospel in ways that are true, filled with promise, and ultimately world changing.

In the RADICAL EXPERIMENT, there are five specific challenges:
  • To pray for the entire world
  • To read through the entire Word
  • To commit our lives to multiplying community
  • To sacrifice our money for a specific purpose
  • To give our time in another context
Pray for the entire world
Using the resources provided by Operation World, pray together for the entire world over the course of a year.

Read through the entire Word
Using a chronological Bible Reading plan, read through the entire Bible. This site will provide a Bible Reading Plan and scripture memory for each week.

Commit your life to multiplying community
Commit yourself wholeheartedly to the local church. But even deeper than that, commit yourself to a small group that is intentionally sharing, showing, and teaching the Word while serving the world together.

Sacrifice your money for a specific purpose
For the next year, look at all of your expenses as a church, as individuals and as families through the lens of specific need in the world. Work to set a cap on your lifestyle so that you can free up as much of your resources as possible for the sake of the glory of Christ in His church, among the lost, and among the poor.

Spend your time in another context
As you are making disciples in your community, commit, as individuals and families, to give 2% (one week) of your time in Gospel ministry outside of your community for the sake of God’s glory in all the world.

Join us on Wednesday nights! We have a snack and worship and then get into our study!

CSY Word Up

"CSY not only is a place to come on Wednesday night. It's a relationship among the people within it as well. We are like family. If one person has a need, we all strive to meet it. CSY Wednesday night services are where it's at. Not only is the worship service amazing and simply glorifies our awesome God, a lesson is also shared that will rock your socks off! We're Jesus Freaks and are learning how to take a stand for our faith and become stronger in our relationship with our Savior. Come as you are; we'll love you!" --Alyssa (high school senior)

"CSY is a youth group that means a lot to me. We do a lot of fun things. Everyone there is fun and easy to talk to. Wednesday nights we do a lot of fun things. This youth group means a lot to me. Please come and join the fun!" -- Julie (eighth grader)

"CSY is an awesome youth group where you can get on fire for Jesus.  We strive to grow closer to God every day in everything that we do. Like it says in 2 Corinthians 4:6, "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ." Our group strives to use that knowledge that Christ has given us to spread the truth in every aspect of our lives and in any way we can. We serve a miraculous unconditionally loving God who I can't even begin to describe. Just remember we are all so blessed just to even know Him, so we all should further spread His word." -- Austin (high school freshman)

"At church, one of my most favorite things to do is going to CSY. CSY is filled with many meanings that involve helping others and doing good to spread the message of God. I've always loved when we went on youth trips and hung out together. CSY has always meant love and kindness from our hearts to spread the Word. We are a loving group and we are made to be leaders in our community and church." -- Shane (high school sophomore)

"We aren't just a bunch of kids in a youth group; we are changing the world, one step at a time. We are a group that loves Jesus, other people, Skillet, and randomness. We just love to have fun. We don't try to be something we are not. We are the difference." -- Rebekah (college freshman)
